ಸಮಾಜಕಾರ್ಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಪದವಿ ಮಾಡಿ ಸಮಾಜಕಾರ್ಯ ಕ್ಷೇತ್ರಕ್ಕಾಗಿ ಕೆಲಸ ಹಾಗೂ ಸಮಾಜದ  ಒಳಿತಿಗಾಗಿ ಕೆಲಸ ಮಾಡಲು ರೂಪಿಸಿಕೊಂಡ ಸಮಾನ ಮನಸ್ಕರ ತಂಡ  ಈ ನಿರಾತಂಕ, ಸಮಾಜಕಾರ್ಯದ ಹೆಜ್ಜೆಗಳು.
ನಿರಾತಂಕ  ಎಂದರೆ ಏನು ಏಕೆ ಈ ಹೆಸರು ? ಎಂದು ಕೇಳುವವರು ಹಲವರು. ಮನುಷ್ಯ ಸ್ವಭಾವತಃ ಚಿಕ್ಕ ಚಿಕ್ಕ ವಿಷಯಗಳಿಗೆ ಆತಂಕವನ್ನು ಪಡುತ್ತಿರುತ್ತಾನೆ.ನಾನು ಸಹ ಹಲವಾರು ಚಿಕ್ಕ ಚಿಕ್ಕ ವಿಷಯಗಳಿಗೆ  ಆತಂಕ ಪಡುತ್ತಿರುತ್ತೇನೆ. ಆದರೆ ಈ ಆತಂಕವನ್ನು  ಪಡಬಾರದು ಎಂದು ನಿರ್ಧರಿಸಿದ್ದೆ. ಇದೇ ರೀತಿ ಆತಂಕದಲ್ಲಿರುವವರಿಗೆ ಆತಂಕ ರಹಿತರನ್ನಾಗಿಸಬೇಕು ಎಂದು ನಿರ್ಧರಿಸಿದ್ದೆ. ಇದರ ಫಲವಾಗಿ ವೃದ್ಧಾಪ್ಯದಲ್ಲಿರುವವರ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ಅಧ್ಯಯನ ಮಾಡಲು ನಿರ್ಧರಿಸಿದೆ. ಹೀಗೆ ಹಲವಾರು ವೃದ್ಧಾಶ್ರಮಗಳಿಗೆ ಭೇಟಿ ನೀಡಿದಾಗ ವೃದ್ಧರ ಕಣ್ಣುಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಕಂಡಿದ್ದು ಆತಂಕ.   ಈ ವೃದ್ಧಾಪ್ಯದಲ್ಲಿರುವವರಿಗೆ ಆತಂಕವನ್ನು ದೂರಮಾಡಲು ಶ್ರಮಿಸುವ  ಎಂದು ನಿರ್ಧರಿಸಿ 'ನಿರಾತಂಕ'ವಾಗಿರುವ   ಒಂದು ವೃದ್ಧಾಶ್ರಮ ಸ್ಥಾಪಿಸಬೇಕೆಂದು ನಿರ್ಧರಿಸಿದೆ. ವೃದ್ಧರು ವೃದ್ಧಾಪ್ಯದಲ್ಲಿ ನಮಗೆ ಯಾರೂ ಇಲ್ಲದಿದ್ದರೂ ಸಹ 'ನಿರಾತಂಕ' ಸಂಸ್ಥೆ ಇದೆ ಎಂಬ   ಆತ್ಮವಿಶ್ವಾಸ ಬರಲಿ ಎನ್ನುವ ಸದುದ್ದೇಶದಿಂದ ನಿರಾತಂಕ  ಎಂದು ಹೆಸರಿಸಿದೆ. ಸುಮಾರು 1 ವರ್ಷಗಳ ಕಾಲ 1 ವೃದ್ಧಾಶ್ರಮ ನಡೆಸಿದೆ. ಆದರೆ ನಡೆಸಲು ಸಾಧ್ಯವಾಗದೆ ವೃದ್ಧಾಶ್ರಮವನ್ನು ನಿಲ್ಲಿಸಿದೆ. ಕಾರಣ ಹಣಕಾಸಿನ ತೊಂದರೆ. ಆದರೆ ಈ ವೃದ್ಧಾಶ್ರಮ ಕಂಡ  ಆ ಒಂದು ವರ್ಷದ ಅನುಭವ ಮುಂದೊಂದು ದಿನ ವೃದ್ಧಾಶ್ರಮವನ್ನು ಯಶಸ್ವಿಯಾಗಿಸುವೆನೆಂಬ ಭರವಸೆ ನೀಡಿದೆ.
